About Maqraati

A clean, fast website for listening to and reading the Quran — with verified text, permitted recitations, and named sources for everything. It works in Arabic and English, on any device, without an account.

This site is a sadaqah jariyah on behalf of its founder's mother and father — if anything here benefits you, pray for them with mercy and forgiveness.

The Quran is never placed behind a barrier and never traded upon here; it is offered as it was revealed: purely.

To keep a promise, it helps to say plainly what we are not.

It is

• a quiet home for listening to the Quran and reading it,
• text and recitations from named, established sources, presented as they are,
• free, private, and self-hosted — no ads and no third-party trackers; the pages come from this site and the recitations from our own audio CDN.

It is not

• a place for rulings or religious instruction in our own words,
• a social network, a feed, or anything that competes for your attention,
• a commercial venture that profits from your data.

We author no religious content. The text, recitations, and any future translations or lessons come from established, named sources — see our sources page. We build the shelf; we do not write the books.

No AI-generated religious content, ever — not in text, not in lessons, not even in error messages.

The Quranic text (Hafs ʿan ʿAsim, Uthmani script) is from the Tanzil Project — tanzil.net. It is presented verbatim, without any modification, and its integrity is verified automatically on every build of this site. The Tanzil text is distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 license; this credit and link are part of its terms.

The Uthmanic Hafs (Madinah Mushaf) font is by the King Fahd Glorious Quran Printing Complex — fonts.qurancomplex.gov.sa. It is self-hosted here and completely unmodified, as its license requires.

Segmented ayah timestamps used for listen-along highlighting come from the Quranic Universal Library (QUL) datasets by the Tarteel team — qul.tarteel.ai. Each resource's license is verified individually.

التفسير الميسر is the committee tafsir of the King Fahd Glorious Quran Printing Complex, 6,236 per-ayah entries, obtained from QuranEnc.com (translation key arabic_moyassar) and shipped byte-for-byte as received. It is credited at the point of display: «التفسير الميسر — مجمع الملك فهد».

QuranEnc states the grant in its own words: «يتاح الوصول إليها وأخذ نسخ منها وإعادة نشرها لعموم الجهات والأفراد» — access, copying and republication are open to every body and individual — and it declares the project's outputs «وقف مجاني لعموم المسلمين», a free waqf for all Muslims (quranenc.com, read 2026-07-20).

The Arabic text of the two Sahihs (7,008 and 5,362 hadith) comes from the Open-Hadith-Data dataset (mhashim6/Open-Hadith-Data), pinned by checksum and presented verbatim. Book structure and the standard citation numbers are recovered by aligning that text against independent digitizations; the alignment never alters a letter.

Open-Hadith-Data is published under the Open Database License (ODbL 1.0) for the database and the Database Contents License (DbCL) for its contents. Those terms require this attribution and require any database derived from it to be offered under the same licence — this notice is part of them, and we keep to it.

an-Nawawi's 42 hadith come from the ara-nawawi edition of the fawazahmed0/hadith-api dataset (published there under the Unlicense). The 8 hadith al-Hafiz Ibn Rajab al-Hanbali added — numbers 43 to 50, always shown as a labelled appendix — are taken from turath.io: the printed edition «فتح القوي المتين» of al-ʿAbbad al-Badr (turath.io book 11325) as the source, with turath.io book 147927 kept only as a witness for verification. Both matns are classical, long out of copyright; every page is pinned by checksum and shipped verbatim.

The adhkar section follows حصن المسلم by Saʿid b. ʿAli b. Wahf al-Qahtani. Every dhikr text is Quran or hadith matn, taken byte-for-byte from the rn0x/hisn_almuslim_json dataset and verified against our own Quran and Sahihain corpora before it appears. The book's own takhrij footnotes are never republished: each citation you see is our own factual rendering — collection, number, grader — numbered from our verified corpora.

An honest note on that dataset: rn0x/hisn_almuslim_json declares no licence (checked 2026-07-19), and no openly licensed Hisn dataset carries the book's takhrij. That is why we ship only the classical matn and our own citations, and why a licence request to the dataset's author is drafted and waiting to be sent. Printed editions of the book are widely reported to permit free reprinting; we report that as we found it, and have not verified it against a specific edition.

Copyright in each recitation belongs to its reciter or rights holder, who is named wherever the recitation is played. The audio is self-hosted, unmodified, on our own CDN, and any rights holder's request is honoured on the terms below. Currently on the site:

Every recitation, translation, and timing dataset carries its source's name at its point of display — we always present others' work by name, never as our own.

Any learning content ships only after review and sign-off by a named, qualified reviewer (a hafiz with formal training). The reviewer will be named here, on this page, before any learning content goes live.
